omg hi

I have a blog for work? Coolest job ever. I should customize it so it's all pink and shiny impossible to read like MySpace. That'll get me a promotion, right? Sweet.

So the PTB told me that I should say hi now so nobody goes all wtf later when they see some strange person post. I'm Mark Sheppard, and I'm Snow Valley's pretty face at the front door receptionist/office bitch. That'd be my charmingly sexy voice you hear when you call our main number. So hello, all. Pleased to meet you.

I would also like to take this opportunity to pimp my one true everlasting love forever and ever amen, Silver. The only nightclub in the state of New York that caters especially to mutants. (At least, I think it's the only one. If it's not, then it's definitely the best.) I'm there just about every night, being the music man and all. Everyone who says hi here gets a free drink. But only if you're over 21. If you're not, then only if you smile sorry, no can do. We love our liquor license very much and couldn't stand to see her leave. It'd leave me heartbroken and then I wouldn't be able to do my job here and then I'd end up begging for boxed wine on the streets, and no one should ever have to drink boxed wine.

Hello, Mark. They did warn you that the journal system is shared with a school full of mutant teenagers and assorted crazy types, yes?

I would be Nathan. I teach at the school. I'm also one of the assorted crazy types, depending on what day it is and how much coffee I've had.

Of course we did. *innocent*

Hah. You threw him into the deep end and muttered something about sharks as you fled the room, didn't you?

[personal profile] xp_daytripper 2006-09-07 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe? *grins*

Actually, I did warn him that there were younger kids who could read what he wrote. I didn't want too many tricky questions next bus trip.

[identity profile] x-cable.livejournal.com 2006-09-07 11:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, but the tricky questions are always the most fun...

That's what Pete tells me. And then he laughs. A lot. He's finding the whole thing way too funny.

Maybe I'll write my next entry about what goes on doesn't go on in the dark corners in Silver.

No making me have to give the 'where did I come from' talk - I'm sure I'd scar the students for life...

[identity profile] x-pressive.livejournal.com 2006-09-07 10:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I wrote myself a little Post It and hung it up on my monitor to remind me so I don't speak too filthily. I'm not sure how well I did. It's been so long since I was a teenager.

[identity profile] x-cable.livejournal.com 2006-09-07 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Lots of our teenagers swear like troopers. Although you'd be liable to shock the ones that don't, so maybe the post-it isn't such a bad idea.

Do we still have that language filtering system?
xp_daytripper: (working)

[personal profile] xp_daytripper 2006-09-07 11:31 pm (UTC)(link)
*nods* For the little ones, you mean? Yeah, I think that's still in force - Doug writes good code. ;)

[identity profile] x-siryn.livejournal.com 2006-09-08 12:28 am (UTC)(link)
I thought Dr. McCoy wrote that software?
xp_daytripper: (determined)

[personal profile] xp_daytripper 2006-09-08 04:29 am (UTC)(link)
If McCoy wrote it, kudos to him instead. I'm pretty sure Doug and Kitty maintained it, though, considering McCoy wasn't exactly around for much of the last three years and had a lot of other stuff going on when he was.

[identity profile] x-siryn.livejournal.com 2006-09-08 05:15 am (UTC)(link)
I'm quite sure he did. Doug wasn't here when the system went up as I recall. Kit was but I don't think she was quite up to programming it then.

The journals went up back in 2003, yeah, but I thought the filter was brought in later? I seem to remember backreading to some fuss about John swearing in his journal and the little kids reading it.

*shrugs* Whatever. It's not really important, and if I'm wrong, I'm wrong. I certainly have better things to do than to argue it, and I'm sure you do too.

Upshot is, there's a filter program for naughty words so us rough types don't traumatise the littlies.

[identity profile] x-siryn.livejournal.com 2006-09-08 05:34 am (UTC)(link)
Not really. Just homework that I'm avoiding. What kind of professor gives homework on the first day of class? My social justice professor, that's who.

It was brought in later. But I'm pretty sure it was Dr. McCoy who wrote it.

Could be wrong of course. I've been here too long.

*snorts* You're two years older than me. Positively ancient, that is...

[identity profile] x-pressive.livejournal.com 2006-09-08 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
It was a long time ago :P It's been more than three years since high school, and that's 14% of my life.

[personal profile] xp_daytripper 2006-09-08 04:31 am (UTC)(link)
Only one year for me. Yeah, late bloomer and all that. *grins* Worth the wait, though, don't you think?
