(no subject)

There was always one truth I thought could get me through life, something that would hold no matter how horrifying life became, and provide for me a constant source of inspiration and comfort. And now it's gone, shattered into a million pieces.

Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillipe are getting a divorce.

Why go on?

I do not understand. What is this one truth, and what does it have to do with their divorce?

That they were the most stable couple in Hollywood, able to withstand the constant demands and stresses they encounter living such public lives. But they're splitting up. If they can't stay together, then no one can. It's terribly depressing.

Are you really making the statement that no married couples are able to stay together and basing your entire thought process on the relationship and divorce of two actors?

Yes.

After the weekend I had, why did they have to do this? I look at them as a pillar of strength, and now I have none. Woe.

Has it occured to you that celebrity marriages are not the world's greatest touchstones for normalcy?

I haven't been hurt this much since Tommy Lee and Pamela broke up. They loved each other. A lot.

See, now I can't tell whether you're pulling my leg or not.
